Audio output refers to voice, music, or any sound produced by the computer. Types of audio output devices used to receive sound from the computer include:

A loudspeaker or speaker, is a device used to convert electrical energy into sound. It consists essentially of a thin flexible sheet called a diaphragm that is made to vibrate by an electric signal from an amplifier. The vibrations create sound waves in the air around the speaker. A dynamic speaker, which is the most common kind, has the diaphragm attached to a coil of wire suspended in a magnetic field produced by a permanent magnet. A signal current in the suspended coil, called a voice coil, crates a magnetic field that interacts with the already-existing field, causing the coil and the diaphragm attached to it to vibrate.
Speakers are the most common devices used to obtain audio output from the computer. To provide a faithful reproduction of music or speech, a loudspeaker must be able to reproduce a wide range of audio frequencies (i.e. 20 Hz to 20 kHz). Since it is difficult for a single speaker to adequately do that, many quality sound systems employ speakers of three different sizes. The largest ones called woofers, reproduce low frequencies. The medium-sized ones or mid-range speakers reproduce middle frequencies. The smallest ones called tweeters reproduce high frequencies.
Speakers are connected to provide audio output for computer games, music, videos, television shows, videoconferencing, and other applications that have audio output. Most desktop computer speakers are external stand-alone units, but some are built directly into, or permanently attached to the monitor. Laptop, notebook and handheld computers, mobile devices like mobile phones, almost always have speakers integrated into the device.
Headphones are a pair of small speakers used to listen to sound from a computer and other electronic devices in such a private manner as not to disturb anyone in the vicinity. They are designed in contrast to loudspeakers that produce sound that can be heard by anyone in the area. As hardware devices, they can be plugged into a computer, laptop, smartphone, mp3 player or other devices to listen to audio.
Headphones are plug-and-play devices and therefore do not need any sort of installation before use. They originally consisted of one speaker for each ear, connected by a band over the head. Though this style is still in use today, modern headphones are also available in a much smaller format that is inserted into the ear, and commonly called earbuds. Headphones can also be referred to as earphones, or depending on the style, earbuds.
A headset is a hardware device that connects to a telephone or computer and allows the user to talk and listen in a hands-free operation. They are made with either a single-earpiece (mono) or a double-earpiece (mono to both ears or stereo).
Headsets can be said to be headphones with a built-in microphone. They are often used for dictating to the computer as well as making telephone calls using a computer. In technical support and customer service centers, a headset allows the employee to talk to a customer while typing information into a computer. Wireless headsets are commonly used in conjunction with mobile phones.
